How to Use Edible Sheets
Applying Icing Sheets
Separating the sheet: Peel the frosting sheet gently from the plastic backing.
Pro Tip: If cutting out an image, do this while the sheet is still on the backing and flexible. Use sharp scissors for best results.
Placing on cake or dessert:
- Frost your cake, cupcakes, or cookies as usual.
- Before the frosting sets, place the sheet from the center outward. Smooth gently with your hand or a small roller.
- You can pipe decorations on top, but take care not to puncture the sheet.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Roll the backing sheet over the edge of a counter (image side up) to help loosen.
- If it still sticks, freeze the sheet for 15–60 seconds, then try again.
- Avoid using on whipped cream – it will melt.
- For hard frostings (fondant, marzipan, royal icing), add a thin layer of buttercream or piping gel first.
- If your frosting has crusted, spray lightly with water before applying.
Applying Wafer Paper
- Use a clean food-safe brush to apply a thin layer of piping gel (preferred) or Crisco to the non-printed side.
- Place on parchment paper while working, as it can get messy.
- Do not use vodka or alcohol as glue – it will dissolve the paper.
